Ek rahoge toh safe rahoge: PM alleges plot to break Backward classes in Jharkhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday slammed the Congress, accusing the party of trying to break the unity of the backward communities in the in Jharkhand to get power. The Prime Minister, who was addressing a rally in Gumla ahead of Assembly elections in Jharkhand, advised the Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, and Adivasi communities in the state to stay united, saying “ek rahoge toh safe rahoge (They will remain safe if they remain united)”.
“Congress knows that it got wiped out in Adivasi, OBC and Dalit majority areas because these communities got united… That is why the royal family of Congress is attacking the unity of our SC, Adivasi, ST and OBC communities,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi also accused the Congress of trying to snatch away the reservation of the OBCs, SCs and STs in the country.
“They (Congress) want to take away their reservation… The voice of all the castes here will only have power if they remain united as Scheduled Tribes… Congress wants all of them to fight internally and become weak… ‘Ek rahoge toh safe rahoge’ …,” PM Modi said.
In the rally in Jharkhand’s Gumla, PM Modi also said that former Indian Prime Ministers, from Congress, ignored the recommendations for reservation to the OBC community.
“The Congress party has always been opposed to the OBC (Other Backward Classes) from the very beginning. Kaka Saheb Kalelkar said in 1955 that the backward classes should be given reservation. Jawaharlal Nehru put the files in the cold storage. In 1980, the Mandal Commission recommended that OBCs should receive reservations. Indira Gandhi also put the file in the cold storage,” PM Modi said in Gumla.
PM Modi also outlined the policies introduced by his government while speaking in Gumla and said that it was his regime that granted 27 per cent reservation to backward classes in all the central institutions across the country.
“When my government came into power, it gave 27 per cent reservation to the backward classes in all central institutions. We also granted constitutional status to the Backward Classes Commission, the Varanasi MP said.
Earlier in the day, while speaking in Bokaro, PM Modi also accused the Congress of creating a divide among the OBC by pitting one sub-caste against other.
“Beware of Congress-JMM’s evil designs and conspiracies. They can go to any extent to snatch power. Congress has been an opponent of SC, ST, and OBC unity since Independence. Till there was no unity, Congress kept forming governments at the Centre and looted the nation,” he said.
“More than 125 sub-castes are considered OBCs in the Chotanagpur region. Congress-JMM wants to break the OBC unity by pitting sub-castes against each other. I warn you ‘ek rahoge toh safe rahoge’,” he added.
The BJP-led NDA alliance in Jharkhand is eyeing to regain power in the tribal-dominated state, while the JMM-led INDIA bloc is putting its efforts to get the second term.
Elections to the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly are scheduled for November 13 and November 20. The counting of votes will be conducted on November 23.
