BEIRUT, July 24 (Xinhua) — A civilian was wounded on Wednesday by Israeli drones and warplanes airstrikes on southern Lebanese villages, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.
The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Israeli drones and warplanes carried out six airstrikes on five towns and villages in the eastern and central sectors of border areas, wounding a Lebanese civilian in the village of Kfar Hamam, destroying eight houses, and damaging 22 others.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah released on Wednesday a video captured by the Hoopoe drone, which includes recent scenes of important Israeli military sites in northern Israel.
The military media of Hezbollah said in a statement that “among the scenes showcased in the video dubbed ‘The Hoopoe 3’ is the Ramat David airbase, which includes fighter jets, combat helicopters, transport and rescue helicopters, maritime reconnaissance helicopters, and offensive electronic warfare systems.”
The video emphasized the unity of the fronts of support for the Palestinian people, and showed that Hezbollah was able to capture footage of sensitive Israeli sites without being detected by Israeli air defenses and monitoring and reconnaissance devices, it said.
“The video was shot a day before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the U.S. Congress in Washington and was released hours before his speech,” the statement said.
Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on Oct. 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by Hezbollah toward Israel in solidarity with Hamas’s attack on Israel the day before. Israel then retaliated by firing heavy artillery toward southeastern Lebanon. ■
